State Sen. Tony Fulton, of Lincoln, hopes to find local support in his bid for the state treasurer’s office.
Fulton launched his candidacy Thursday for the position to be vacated by Nebraska State Treasurer Shane Osborn who previously announced he would not seek re-election.
Fulton, 37, is the first among a list of speculative candidates to throw his hat in the ring. Former Nebraska Attorney General Don Stenberg and at least three other state senators — Chris Langemeier, of Schuyler, Abbie Cornett, of Bellevue, and Deb Fischer, of Valentine — have mentioned the possibility of running as well.
Fulton kicked of his statewide campaign tour Tuesday making Columbus one of the stops along the northeast Nebraska leg of the tour.
