Auburn Native Tony Fulton Announces Run for Treasurer

“From every corner of the state, in cities large and small, the consistent message I hear from Nebraskans is that they want a government that works for them. That is why I am running,” said State Senator Tony Fulton.
“Our campaign is focused on making state government work for the people of Nebraska.”
According to an announcement posted on the senator’s Web site, Fulton, a Nemaha County native, will work for:
- Transparency. Transparency is the foundation for efficient and restrained government. Building upon the nebraskaspending.com web site with knowledge of the state budget is key for improving government transparency.
- Responsibility. Responsible management of Nebraskans’ tax dollars is the linchpin to the Treasurer’s eight statutory duties. Responsible management leads to controlled spending.
- Accountability. Nebraskans expect and deserve a government that is accountable to them. Fostering a culture of accountability builds trust between public servants and their bosses – the people.
The Treasurer’s Office has been instrumental in elevating Nebraska’s reputation across the nation. Our programs for investing in children’s education through the College Savings Plan are among the best in the nation . Child Support Services have the greatest customer service standards in the nation, and our Treasurer returns record amounts of unclaimed property back to Nebraskans every year. There is much to be proud of, and yet there remain opportunities to be even better.
“It is a great honor to represent the citizens of District 29 in the Nebraska Legislature, and I am humbled by the tremendous amount of support for this new opportunity to serve as your State Treasurer,” said Fulton.
